Veterinary Technician

Our Veterinary Technicians are an extremely important part of our team. The technician's primary role is to assist the veterinarian in providing medical care to patients as well as educating the pet owners on the treatment and recommendations of the veterinarian.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Assist the veterinarian with the medical care of hospitalized and surgical patients as well as support during routine exams and appointments.
  • Educate clients on all medical recommendations.
  • Provide pre- and post-op care of surgical patients, including medications.
  • Administer and monitor anesthesia with surgical patients.
  • Perform dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and simple extractions.
  • Clean and sterilize all instruments and equipment.
  • Obtain patient history and vitals for scheduled appointments.
  • Perform venipuncture blood draws – including jugular.
  • Administer subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intravenous injections.
  • Properly insert and bandage IV catheters.
  • Take digital radiographs with proper positioning.
  • Collect and prepare samples for laboratory testing – both in-house and outside lab.
  • Fill medication prescriptions and educate clients on proper dosing and potential side effects.
  • Assist the entire team to provide a safe and clean work environment.
Qualifications
  • Veterinary technician experience
  • Able to lift 50 pounds unassisted
  • Proficient in veterinary terminology and animal physiology
  • Strong skills in animal handling, restraint, and catheterization
  • Knowledge of animal anatomy and pet care practices
  • Experience with kennel operations and animal husbandry
  • Familiarity with dental terminology and veterinary critical care
  • Laboratory experience and understanding of X-Ray procedures
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $22.00 per hour (based on experience & skills)
Expected hours: 35 – 40 hours per week, including rotating weekends
