What is considered an emergency and needs immediate care?

Emergencies present themselves in a variety of ways. Below is a brief list of serious emergencies that will need immediate attention.
  • Multiple seizures in a short amount of time
  • Trouble breathing
  • Swollen abdomen that is hard to touch, painful, or continuing to expand
  • Unable or straining to urinate (especially male cats)
  • Trauma from a fall or being hit by a car
  • Unconsciousness
  • Broken Bones

  • Bleeding from the eyes, nose, or mouth
  • Ingestion or suspected swallowing of antifreeze, rat poison, human medications, household cleaners, fertilizers, pesticides, or other harmful chemicals
  • Collapses
  • Signs of extreme pain
  • Has gone more than 3-4 hours between delivery of puppies/kittens
  • Severe, acute vomiting and/or diarrhea
An emergency can differ in the eyes of many people. If you as a pet owner are concerned, then we are concerned and will schedule an appointment. However, if you need to bring your pet in for an emergency, please call ahead and let us know so we may be prepared to assist you and provide the best treatment in a timely fashion.

In the event of an emergency, please remember to stay calm, as our pets will pick up on our emotions and react accordingly. Also; the more information you can provide us with concerning the incident, the better we can treat your pet quickly and accurately.
Here at Logue's TLC Pet Hospital, we strive to make you and your pets visit with us as efficient and stress free as possible. However, we also understand that our animal friends will get sick and/or injured at all times of the day and night and may need immediate care. We try our best to not let this effect our regular scheduled appointments during the day, but would appreciate your compassion and understanding when/if we need to attend to an emergency ahead of your scheduled appointment. We will keep you informed of any/all delays in your appointment if needed.
If you have an emergency during office hours, please call our office number at 765-973-8703 to inform us and schedule an emergency appointment.
Dr. Logue is not available for emergencies after our regular office hours.
If your pet has an emergency at a time when Dr. Logue is unavailable, we have provided a few resources below to help out.
