Client Handout Library

We believe in not only treating our patients but educating their owners. Over the years we have created many custom handouts full of information on a wide variety of medical concerns.
These handouts do not take the place of a physical exam by Dr. Logue.
If you are concerned about your pet, please call our office at (765) 973-8703 to schedule an appointment.

Skunk odor remedy

Our canine friends will occasionally get sprayed by a skunk! The home recipe below will help to battle the offending odor but unfortunately will not eradicate it.
Picture
Step 1: Bathe with Dawn Dish soap first.
Step 2: Mix the following ingredients in an open container.
  • 1 quart (or 32 ounces) Hydrogen Peroxide
  • 1/4 cup Baking Soda
  • 1 tsp. Dawn dish soap
  • Use within 1 hour of mixing
  • You may need to "double" the recipe above for larger dogs.
Step 3: Use the mixture over the entire dog, focusing on the areas that were directly sprayed.
Step 4: Let soak for 10 minutes - or as long as possible!
Step 5: Rinse the dog thoroughly.
Step 6: Repeat daily as needed until odor is gone.
Important Bits of Information:
  • If your pet was sprayed in the face / eyes - flush eyes thoroughly with plain saline solution.
  • Do NOT get the above mixture in the eyes
  • Above mixture may lighten dark colored clothing
  • You will likely need to bathe the pet multiple times
  • Skunk spray is an oil and will not wash out with regular shampoo
